Please join personnel from the Chino Police Department, the Chino Valley Independent Fire District, the Chino Hills Police Department, and the Cities of Chino and Chino Hills, as they unite forces on Thursday, January 21st to donate blood during the annual Battle of the Badges blood drive. The event, sponsored by the Chino Police Department, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carolyn Owens Community Center, located at 13201 Central Avenue in Chino.

The blood collected by the American Red Cross at the event will help to save the lives of accident victims, cancer patients, premature babies, and others who need blood. According to the American Red Cross, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. In Southern California alone, there is a need for more than 400,000 blood donations each year.

During last year's very successful six-hour event, 81 participants signed in to donate blood and 40 of those were first-time donors. Thanks to the large turn out, the drive exceeded all expectations and American Red Cross personnel collected a total of 72 pints of blood.

First responders and City personnel are asking for the public's help to break that record during this year's drive.

Make your appointment today to donate on Thursday, January 21st; schedule online at www.givelife.org (sponsor code: Badge). All participants will receive a Battle of the Badges T-shirt, a voucher for two tickets to a Clippers game, and a coupon for a free appetizer at Mimi's Cafe.
