CHINO - Anna Borba Fundamental Elementary School has for years been an across-the-street neighbor to Richard Gird Elementary School, but with an unanimous board decision, Gird becomes Borba next month.

Borba Fundamental operations will move in the fall to the now closed Gird Elementary for the opening of the new school year, and Chino Valley Adult School will move its operations from Riverside Drive to the former Borba site.

Gird Elementary was among three schools closed by the Chino Valley Unified school board as part of budget reductions to help close a $44 million deficit.

"Over the years, classes have been taken away from the adult school, and this will give us the opportunity to offer and expand the services offered at the adult school because we were limited as far as space," board President Sylvia Orozco said.
