President of Hope for the Hills, Bob Goodwin, sent a note to his "HFTH Family" stating, "WOW... WOW... WOW... We are getting closer..." and expressing his surprise and pleasure at the ruling.
CPUC Commissioner, Michael Peevey has ordered SCE to prepare alternatives for routing the portion of segment 8 that traverses Chino Hills. Besides winning the support of our city, this is the most significant benchmark we've seen since this effort began.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has ordered Southern California Edison (SCE) to stop construction work in Chino Hills on segments 4-11 of the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP).
The CPUC approved SCE's application to build these segments in December 2009. The city of Chino Hills subsequently filed an application for rehearing of that decision in January 2010, saying that the selection of the route adversely affected the city and is inconsistent with the California Environmental Quality Act.

NEW: Chino Hills Wins Battle Against SCE
The city of Chino Hills has won an important battle. Southern California Edison has been ordered by the California Public Utility Commission to provide alternatives to their Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project in Chino Hills. SCE has until January 10 to provide alternatives to the CPUC.
The ruling directs SCE to prepare alternatives to the current plan, where they have been constructing 200 foot tall electrical transmission towers near people's homes in the city of Chino Hills. It was completely unnecessary to do it this way...
