Chino Hills Residents - Urgent City News
What you should know:
* Southern California Edison's Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP) will have major negative impacts on our city.
* Current inactive 220kV power lines will be replaced with 500kV active (energized) lines.
* Current 100 ft. transmission towers will be replaced with approximately 198 ft. towers.
* Placement of towers will be within 60 ft. from some homes.
* The existing 220kV towers traverse through many neighborhoods, affecting more than 45 streets. SCE will have to shoehorn the 500kV towers through our backyards because the 150 ft. easements were not intended for such enormous towers.
* The aesthetics, noise impact, loss of property value, and other issues such as safety, health, and environmental concerns, will negatively affect us. Our overall quality of life will change.
* 3 California Department of Public Health doctors could not discount a link between high voltage power lines and increased risks of childhood leukemia, ALS, miscarriage, & tumors.
* Over 1,000 homes are within 500 ft. of these transmission towers and lines, but the entire city will be affected.

The C.A.R.E. group consists of Chino Hills residents that are concerned about their neighborhoods and city. We are not against implementation of a renewable energy system, just the selected route that SCE intends to use for placement of these 500,000-volt lines. The city and many residents have voiced their concerns at the CPUC scoping meeting which was held on Sept. 20, 2007.
