A routine traffic check resulted in the arrest of two people who allegedly had thousands of counterfeit and pirated CDs and DVDs valued at nearly $79,000.

Chino Police officers initially arrested Favian Ortega, 27 and Guadalupe Santiago, 22 of Los Angeles Monday after noticing several open boxes full of CDs and DVDs inside the vehicle, according to a police news release.

Ortega told the officers they were transporting CDs and DVDs to someone in Chino who planned to sell them, police said.
