Chino Valley Unified School District Accepting Kindergarten Registration for 2008-2009

Kindergarten registration for the 2008-2009 school year will begin during the last week of February, 2008. Please check with your resident school for the exact date and time of registration. It is customary that siblings will register before open registration. A parent or guardian must bring immunization records, a birth certificate, and proof of residency. A child who will reach the age of five on or before December 2nd of the school year shall be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten at the beginning of that school year or at any later time in the same year. Proof of age shall be required of all enrolling students. This may include: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or passport. Reasonable evidence of residency may be established by documentation, including but not limited to any of the follow:

1. Property tax payment receipts

2. Rent payment receipts

3. Utility service payment receipts

Note: A drivers license does not qualify for proof of residency.

Students entering a district school or child care and development program, or transferring between school campuses, shall present an immunization record which shows at least the month and year of each immunization in accordance with law. Students shall be excluded from school or exempted from immunization requirements only as allowed by law. The following immunizations are required:

1. Polio (4 doses)

2. Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (5 doses)

3. Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) (2 doses)

4. Hepatitis B (3 does)

5. Varicella (1 dose)

Chino Valley Unified School District serves 33,330 students in Chino, Chino Hills and Ontario. There are 36 schools in the District including 22 elementary (K-6), 2 fundamental (K-6 & K-8), 5 junior high and 4 high schools and 3 alternative schools. Five elementary schools operate on a year-round basis. The District employs about 3,160 persons, making it one of the largest employers in San Bernardino County. The District's annual budget is approximately $230 million. The District's Mission Statement is: Increase Student Achievement, Provide Safe Schools, and Promote Positive School Climate.
