CHINO - Chino Valley Unified School District wants to honor alumni who are on active duty and serving in the Armed Forces.

"We would like to honor our former students' service to our country, especially when so many are serving dangerous missions in the Middle East and throughout the world," said Julie Gobin, District spokeswoman. By posting their photo and a little background about them, we hope that others in the community will keep them in their thoughts as well."

The photo and information about their assignment will be posted on the District website (www.chino.k12.ca.us) and the District educational television station (Channel 17 on Time Warner and Channel 39 on FIOS).

Family members may send information (name, branch of Armed Services, rank, high school, year graduated) and photos (jpeg preferred) to:

The District will honor current students who have been accepted in to military academies or enlisted in the Armed Forces at the annual Military Salute at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008. The event will be held at the start of the regularly scheduled Board meeting in the Board room, 5130 Riverside Drive, Chino. The families of the students have been invited to attend the ceremony. Students from the Ayala High School Band brass sections will perform two patriotic songs before the event.
