Former county supervisor Townsend dies at 84

Robert O. Townsend, the former San Bernardino County supervisor instrumental in the development of Chino Hills, Prado Regional Park and the Omnitrans public bus system, among many other accomplishments, has died.

Townsend passed away Tuesday at his Chino home at age 84 after a long battle with cancer, said his daughter, Robin MacBean.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pomona Valley Memorial Park in Pomona.
