CHINO HILLS - City employees will not seek raises in the fiscal year that starts July 1 and part-time salaries will be cut.
Those steps represent a savings of about $750,000 as the city grapples with a decline in its revenue sources and an expected $1 million cut in state funding, officials said.
In addition, officials said capital improvement projects have been postponed and the city has instituted a hiring freeze.
City Manager Michael Fleager on Tuesday presented his preliminary budget report for 2009-10 at City Hall.
"The challenges presented by the demands of providing essential municipal services during an economic downturn will be a principal challenge for Chino Hills," Fleager wrote in his report.
