Developers hope to begin temple work next year.

Three buildings in a Hindu temple complex are near completion, and two more are expected to be finished early next year.

An administration building, classrooms and a gymnasium should be complete by the end of the month, said Kal Mistry, spokesman for developer Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanastha, also called BAPS.

Two other buildings, kitchens and a cultural complex, are also set to open at the beginning of next year, he said. Construction on the project at 15100 Fairfield Ranch Road began in 2006.

The centerpiece of the complex, the 10,000-square-foot temple, or mandir, is still going through a city planning review. Developers hope to begin work next year.

"We're going to be asking for an exception from the Planning Commission, and we've been getting the proposal ready," Mistry said.
