On Tuesday, January 12th, Honolulu Harry's will sponsor the first Cyn in the City Night of 2010!
Honolulu Harry's first opened their doors in 2004 on the north side of the 60 freeway just west of Central Avenue. We spoke to Honolulu Harry's Special Events Manager, Kristi Tisor, about the food and history of this very special Hawaiian / Asian / American restaurant. Kristi told us that Honolulu Harry's is one of the Chino area's best kept secrets (although they don't want it to be a secret).
The menu varies from Hawaiian Orange Chicken to Paniolo Skirt Steak and Coconut Shrimp, to Fish cooked a variety of ways, Top Sirloins and a great selection of salads and appetizers such as the North Shore Nachos or the Tropical Grilled Salad are available as well. You get the impression that they cook healthy. This may be due to the fact that the owner is our own Dr. James M. Lally who is the President and Chief Medical Officer at Chino Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Lally is recognized in the local community as a charitable and giving physician, who leads by example. Early to work and late to leave, he serves as a role model to his management and staff and as someone willing to "walk the walk". Dr. Lally is responsible for the day to day operations of the hospital and oversees the sports medicine programs of the four local high schools in the Chino Valley Unified School District. He's also a member of the YMCA Board of Directors and serves as medical director to indigent clinics in Chino and Montclair. On a personal note, without sharing details, we've been to Chino Valley Community Hospital and the experience we had there was EXCELLENT. Dr. Lally probably won't remember but he visited our room personally and our memories are very positive.
The restaurant has a 4.5 star rating. Ms. Tisor told us that they are very careful about their produce selections, buying only the freshest produce and best quality meat, chicken, and fish. They offer lunch specials between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM and their regular menu is available all day.
Although they don't open until 10:00 AM, Honolulu Harry's will work with churches, service clubs, or special groups to arrange for special morning meetings or coffee.
