Purchasing Managers Index drops

The index that tracks Inland Southern California's manufacturing sector declined last month to its lowest point since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks slowed commerce to a crawl.

The Purchasing Managers Index for San Bernardino and Riverside counties dropped to 41.2 in July, from 48.7 the previous month, a report released Friday by the Institute of Applied Research and Policy Analysis at Cal State San Bernardino found.

The index is now at its second-lowest point since its inception in 1993. The all-time low was 37.8 in October 2001...
