Residents consider it a safety issue.

Resident Tim Walker said he's had problems making the turn onto Central Avenue because of parked commercial trucks blocking his view of oncoming traffic.

"It is a safety issue when you're trying to look around 18-wheelers and trying to get out safely," said Walker.

At Tuesday's meeting, the City Council amended the municipal code to prohibit large trucks, trailers, buses and recreational vehicles from parking on seven road segments throughout the city, including the area of Central near Ayala Park that plagues Walker.

It's a measure officials said will increase safety and help maintain the neighborhood atmosphere of the community.
