Over the past few months The Gem Sports Bar & Grill, located on Butterfield Ranch Road and Pine, has put together a weekly line-up of live entertainment for their late-night crowd. The Gem welcomes a variety of styles nightly, creating an exciting mood that is still soft enough to host their customers looking for a peaceful family outing.
On Wednesdays, The Gem features an acoustic set for a nice weeknight serenade. This solo musician comes ready to perform a vast selection of popular rock tunes via his acoustic guitar, keyboard, and voice. While some of the songs he covers were designed for a full band to fill a stadium with energy, this musician tones it down to restaurant volume, setting a nice mood by providing some easy listening. With a songbook full of music, I'm sure he's ready to take requests within his genre.
Patrons on Thursday nights might want to warm up their vocal chords to prepare for the weekend as The Gem hosts karaoke with AJ. This DJ has a few local gigs and sets a perfect mood for the regulars to hit the stage. Those with a gusto for karaoke would surely find a welcoming crowd awaiting their performance. No need to bring your own music; AJ has a stack of books filled with Top 40's, oldies but goodies, and even those songs we hate to love. For the more bashful patrons AJ has no trouble joining in to help complete a song, and can even carry a tune nicely on his own when there's no one brave enough to take the stage.
Jazz kicks off the weekend on Friday nights with a local group called Bladau. With live drums, bass and guitar, most would expect this young group to rattle the walls, but their sound is quite the contrary. Once they chime in, the restaurant is filled with a smooth sound fit for any age range. They aim to keep the music in the background to leave room for Friday night conversations in the restaurant to continue. Bladau performs a range of popular tunes varying in style from jazz to blues and funk. The music starts at 9PM and, other than a few breaks for these working musicians, continues through closing time.
Changing pace for Saturday night, The Gem welcomes a DJ to pump up the weekend crowd. The DJ spins all night, encouraging dancing and celebrating to polish off the night. Saturday nights at The Gem have become a regular stop for locals looking for some close-to-home fun.
With a promising line-up thus far, The Gem is on its way to providing great nightly entertainment to compliment their existing American restaurant fare, full selection of spirits, and attentive staff.
