Chino Valley Elementary Students Will Meet Action and Adventure Novelist Jeff Stone

CHINO - On Thursday, May 8th, bestselling children's author Jeff Stone will visit two schools, Levi Dickey and Rolling Ridge Elementary schools, in the Chino Valley Unified School District. Mr. Stone is the author of The Five Ancestors, a series of 17th Century kung fu action/adventure novels for young readers.

The Five Ancestors is an action-packed adventure series that follows five young "temple" brothers who have each mastered a different kung fu animal fighting style, including Tiger, Monkey, Snake, Crane, and Dragon. When their temple is destroyed, each young warrior monk must set out on his own to figure out his past. The series was inspired by an old kung fu legend and bits of Chinese history.

The books have received awards from the American Library Association and the International Reading Association. The series is being published in eleven languages, and Nickelodeon has optioned the film rights. More than a quarter million copies have been sold.

Mr. Stone's presentations are typically interactive, inviting children to learn "animal-style" kung fu poses as he discusses the merits of reading.

Jeff Stone lives in the Midwest with his wife and two children and practices the martial arts daily. He holds a black belt in kung fu. He has worked as a photographer, an editor, a maintenance man, a technical writer, a ballroom dance instructor, a concert promoter, and a marketing director for companies that design schools, libraries, and skateboard parks.
