In a word: Fun, Very Good Food

Our kids took my wife and I out to the Shima restaurant for our birthdays tonight. This was our first visit there and we definitely will go back. The restaurant, located in the Golden Palms Center by Roswell and Schaefer Avenues, has a pleasant decor and comfortable chairs. The restaurant has about 12 to 15 Teppan Grills that seat 8 people to a table, plus a cocktail bar and a sushi bar. It is quite roomy. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Since it was a Thursday evening, the restaurant was not very busy; just few couples. We had six in our party. The staff was attentive, courteous, and pleasant.

The menu is just right to me; not really complicated; just all the basic good stuff you expect at a Japanese restaurant. They have a complete selection of appetizers, sushi, fish, chicken, steaks, shrimp, and lobster. Our chef was really fun (maybe a little too fun). Her name was Kouman and she entertained us in addition to feeding us. She was a lot of fun to watch and talk to.

I recommend the Shima Restaurant for anyone that wants good food and fun. The chef, Kouman, may be a little too much for a conservative or older crowd, but overall, I wholeheartedly recommend the place and would ask for her again myself.
